Is GTA 6 coming to PC? Release date report and what's confirmed
Consoles first, again. What Rockstar and Take-Two have actually said, what the latest report claims, and how long PC players waited last time.
GTA VI is not coming to PC at launch. On November 19, 2026 it releases on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has announced a PC version. A recent report suggests PC players may not have to wait as long as last time — but it's not official yet.
What's officially confirmed
- Platforms: Take-Two's August 2026 results list GTA VI for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only.
- No date for PC: there is no announcement, no store page and no system requirements.
- Consoles first by design: Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick explained in May 2026 that Rockstar always starts on console, to serve its core audience first, while adding in September that PC is becoming more and more important to the company.
The report: PC in early 2027
On October 13, 2026, GamesBeat reported that a PC version of GTA VI is slated for the first quarter of 2027 (January to March), citing four people familiar with the plans. Rockstar didn't respond to a request for comment. GamesBeat is a reliable outlet, but until Rockstar or Take-Two confirms it, treat the date as a strong rumor.
No streaming to PC either
For a moment in early October it looked like PC players might get a back door: The Verge reported that Xbox had secured cloud-streaming rights. Xbox's Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball quickly clarified that the game “will not be streaming exclusively or to PC”. So Xbox Cloud Gaming on PC is not a launch-day option.
How long did PC players wait last time?
| Game | Console release | PC release | Wait |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA V | Sept 2013 | April 2015 | ~19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | Oct 2018 | Nov 2019 | ~13 months |
| GTA VI | Nov 19, 2026 | Q1 2027? (report) | ~2–4 months if the report is right |
If the GamesBeat report is accurate, this would be the shortest console-to-PC gap for a Rockstar game in a long time.
