GTA 6 release date: November 19, 2026 — everything confirmed

GTA VI comes out on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The date is on Rockstar's official site, in Take-Two's latest financial results and at the end of the Launch Trailer released on October 15, 2026. After two delays, it has now held for almost a year.

The GTA 6 release date

Rockstar's site says GTA VI “plays best on PlayStation 5”, but the game is launching on both consoles on the same day.

GTA 6 delay history

GTA VI has been delayed twice since it was revealed:

When it announced the second delay, Rockstar apologized “for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait.” Since then, every official signal has pointed the same way: Take-Two kept November 19 in its August 7, 2026 results, and the October 15 Launch Trailer ends on the same date.

Will GTA 6 be delayed again?

There is no credible report of another delay as of October 15, 2026. Pre-orders opened on June 25, review and marketing beats are lined up, and Bloomberg's Jason Schreier wrote on October 14 that November 19 appears to be the real date. The next checkpoint is Take-Two's quarterly results on November 9, 2026 — any last-minute change would most likely surface there.

Pre-load and physical copies

Digital pre-load starts on November 12, 2026, a week before launch, so you can play the moment the game unlocks. Physical copies go on sale the same day, but note: the boxed edition contains a download code, not a disc. Rockstar has not published an official file size yet — be wary of the numbers circulating online.

Is GTA 6 coming to PC?

Not at launch. Rockstar and Take-Two have only announced console versions. A GamesBeat report from October 13 says a PC version is planned for the first quarter of 2027, but that is unconfirmed. Everything we know is in our GTA 6 PC guide.
