GTA 6 Criminal Profile: a Red Dead-style tracker for how you commit crime

New details from Edge's Rockstar North preview: a behaviour tracker, police who piece together clues, and how to shake them off.

Also available in: Deutsch · Español · Français · Italiano

GTA 6 will track how you commit crime with a "Criminal Profile", and its police will piece together who you are from clues, according to Edge's preview of Rockstar North, relayed by GameSpot, Vice, Tbreak and GTABoom on October 29–30, 2026. None of this comes from a Rockstar announcement: it is press coverage of a studio visit, and details may change before launch on November 19, 2026.

This builds on our report on the Edge feature.

The Criminal Profile

Detail Status
A Criminal Profile tracks how Jason and Lucia behave Reported (Edge, relayed by outlets)
Scale runs from "Professional" to "Irredeemable", shown with angel and devil icons Reported (Edge)
Rockstar says it will influence how the story unfolds Reported (Edge)
Compared to Red Dead Redemption 2's honor system Outlet comparison (GameSpot), not Rockstar's wording

Outlets disagree on what the profile measures. GameSpot frames it around how violently you handle crimes, while others describe a tracker of behaviour patterns rather than a classic good/evil meter. Neither description names the levels in between, so treat the details as open.

How the police find you

Edge describes icons at the top of the screen that show what police know about you:

  • your general description;
  • whether you were alone or with your partner;
  • what you were wearing;
  • whether a CCTV camera caught you;
  • the weapon you carried.

According to the reports, each clue can be shaken off: split up with your partner, change clothes or drop the weapon. Some vehicles also carry tracking devices, so stealing the wrong car could lead police straight to you. Police still respond only when an NPC witnesses a crime or an alarm goes off, and the six-star wanted level returns, per the coverage.

What it means

For players, the headline is that evasion looks like a puzzle of clues rather than just outrunning a star meter. Combined with the Edge map and NPC details, it points to a world that reacts to who you are and what you did. We will update this page if Rockstar publishes official details.
